Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hosted PBX & VoIP?

Hosted PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is the modern version of the traditional telephone closet. The new hosted, or “cloud,” model puts the brains of your phone closet into professionally maintained data centers, helping businesses like yours to transform their communications and improve productivity without the need to purchase expensive, complex, depreciating phone system software and hardware. Your service providers manage and monitor your system 24×7, allowing you to focus on work.

VoIP refers to phone services that are accessible through a high quality broadband connection. VoIP is typically more cost effective and scalable than traditional alternatives. With both Hosted PBX and VoIP, you and your team can work from the office, home, or on the road, or through your smartphone, all while utilizing your company’s communications solution to help maintain and uplift your image and brand.

Can I keep my number?

Our number porting specialists will determine if your current phone number can be moved over to Got2Connect. If so, the transfer is easy to request and usually takes 10 to 15 business days. It can take up to 60 days in extreme cases. Got2Connect does give you a temporary number while your porting is in process. If your current provider offers call forwarding you can make sure the temporary number forwards to your Got2Connect phone service.

Can I use my existing analog phones?
Yes. If you want to use your existing analog telephones, all you need is the Cisco SPA-122 ATA. Connect the ATA to your router and connect your analog phone to the ATA. This will allow the ATA to convert the digital Got2Connect phone line to analog so it works with your telephones.
Can I use my existing IP phones with Got2Connect?
Generally Yes. Got2Connect can be used with most SIP-compatible IP phones. They may need to be unlocked by your original provider and will require manual configuration.

Our support team will be happy to assist with configuration!

How can I use a custom toll free vanity number for my business?

Got2Connect offers vanity toll-free or vanity-800 numbers to our customers at a very low rate. Vanity toll-free numbers boost your brand recognition instantly by giving your company a big business feel. Also, the easier it is for your customers to dial your phone number—either by making the numbers easy to remember (800-555-5555), or by using letters associated with your business (800-555-BEDS)—the more recognizable your brand becomes.

Do I need special equipment or a router on premise?

No additional telephone lines, PBX hardware, or installation are needed. Got2Connect will work with any high-speed, stable internet connection and requires a minimum of 64 kbps of bandwidth per call. You do need a router that will make the internet connection available to your phones/devices.

For best voice quality, we recommend a router that is QoS (Quality of Service) enabled. By configuring your QoS router to prioritize the voice traffic over other internet traffic, you’ll experience better voice quality when your internet is being used for other activities (e.g., downloading large files, watching online videos, etc.).

How do I connect my mobile phone to Got2Connect?
The easiest way to connect your mobile phone to your Got2Connect account is to download the CoreNexa Mobile App for Android or iOS to your phone.

When you first launch the mobile app, you will be prompted to enter details for your Got2Connect account, including your Got2Connect username and password.

This allows you to receive and make calls using your Got2Connect account on your mobile phone. The setup procedure will differ slightly depending on your device’s operating system and the version of the app you are using.

What is an ATA?
ATA is an acronym for Analog Telephone Adapter. An ATA usually takes the form of a small box with a power adapter. It allows you to connect your traditional analog phones to the internet and place Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) calls.
Can I use a fax machine with Got2Connect?
Yes…you can still use your fax machine to send faxes by connecting it to an ATA and connecting the ATA to your router. You will need to buy a Got2Connect dedicated fax line to replace the existing phone line to your fax machine.
What if I call internationally?
We include free calling to anywhere in the USA, and Canada. If you enable international calling and call a different country, we’ll charge a per-minute rate on your next bill. International rates can be found here, and vary by destination.
